Varsity Basketball Falls Short In Close Game

On January 9th, Collinsville boys varsity basketball returned for their second home game of the season. They came into the game with a 4-3 record and looked to get another win against the Tahlequah Tigers.

The first half of the game was rough for the Cardinals. They recorded ten turnovers and were down 25-20. The turnovers would come back to be a crucial part in the final scoring, as the Cardinals only lost by two. An intense nail biter, the competitive matchup came down to the final second. Falling just short. the Cards lost with a final score of 56-54.

However, there were several standout players in Tuesdays game. Sophomore, Gage Tacker, had a double-double (14pts and 12rebs) and was important in keeping the game close. Austin Marler had 13pts and Peyton Dees ended the night with 7pts.

The Cardinals are now 4-4 and will travel to Skiatook this Friday to play the Skiatook Bulldogs. The Cardinals are ranked 14th in 5A and will approach the game against Skiatook with extra intensity. The game will be at Skiatook High School and start at 7:30pm.
