Construction of New Casey’s in Collinsville

Story and photos by Gabe Stevens

As many have probably noticed, construction has begun for Casey’s General Store on Main Street. The Cardinal Connection staff took pictures of the construction and interviewed some of our students about the newest addition to Downtown Collinsville.

Students had various opinions on the construction of Casey’s General Store.

Grace Coleman said, “I think it’s a good idea but I don’t like the location. I think they should’ve kept the historic building and not change main street’s uniqueness.” Cody Blair and Landen Tidrick said, “ They have really good pizza.” Gabe Lyon said, “ I think that the land should be preserved for the history that Collinsville has to offer.” Lastly, Ramsey Keim said, “ I think in the long run, it will make more money for the town.”

Overall, the historic building will be missed, but thoughts of the new building are positive. The Cardinal Connection staff would like to thank those we talked to.
