Cardinals Cripple Claremore Zebras

No one could predict the outcome of Collinsville’s Conference game against Claremore. The sound of the roaring crowd and the crack! of  splitting helmets, created a fierce tension between the Cardinals and Zebras, last Friday night. The Cardinals, fighting for their last shot at District Champions, had no choice but to win this battle.

Captain, Seth Boomer (#12), and Head Coach, Kevin Jones, furiously organized plays for the team knowing that each one could be the difference between a District Championship or an immense drop in ranking. A loss on this day was completely out of the option.

The desire to win with what was at stake was expressed in both teams. Massive hits in the backfield were made, several sacks, and blocked passes as well; defense was the name of the game the first half.

The Cardinal heart pulled through in the 3rd and 4th Qtrs. The Cards pushed their lead with 2 more touchdowns. Boomer and his receivers, Hayden West (#33) and Brett Erickson (#11), connected beautifully on the field. Few passes were dropped or incomplete.

Collinsville pulled through and defeated the Claremore Zebras in this decisive Conference game, with a final score of 28-14. The Cardinals now await the notorious Skiatook Bulldogs. This epic rivalry will determine the outcome of district rankings as well as playoff games. The Cards also rely on Tahlequah; if the Tigers defeat Bishop Kelley and Collinsville beats Skaiatook, the Cards will be named District Champions. If yhey win then they get home-field advantage in their playoff game, if they lose then all their playoff games will be away.

Collinsville is well prepeared and ready for this massive rivalry game, this coming Friday. The boys in red are prepared to claim their title as Champions. They wish the best of luck to Tahlequah in their game, and will stop at nothing until they reach victory. The Big-Red Defense is prepared to hold up a wall against the Bulldogs and take home this championship.
