The Crimson Cadet marching band season may be over, but that doesn’t stop them from drumming up some sound to hype up the crowd at sporting events.
As football season ends, basketball season begins. And with it, the basketball band is back.
Director Tyler Simmons took on the project last year, separate from the other band directors; Bob Early and Rod Mackey.
Varsity player, Austin Marler (Jr.), enjoys having the band at home games. “I love having them. It’s loud and it can affect the other team’s ability to communicate,” said Marler.
Participation is not required but the members who do participate are divided into bands A and B. Band B drumline member, Kathryn Lyman loves being a part of the band saying, “I like that I get to drum with my friends without the pressure of competition season.”
Make sure to check them out the next time you attend a home basketball game!
